Sport

At Moorside Primary we participate in many sporting activities many of which are possible by money awarded through the Sports Premium Allocation Fund. Full details of our Sports Premium Allocation can be found on our school website.

“A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.” – The National Curriculum in England, 2014

Physical Education

As written in our mission statement, here at Moorside Primary School we strive to work together to inspire confidence, develop resilience and promote democracy amongst our pupils and the wider community. These skills we believe are fundamental in achieving a healthy, fit, and competently skilled lifestyle.

Core Skills

Each week pupils will take part in P.E sessions to develop their core skills across a range of sports. These skills include dance, gymnastics, athletics, multiskills, swimming and games.

The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • Are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • Engage in competitive sports and activities
  • Lead healthy, active lives
