School Council

We are the School Council. We are very important in school because we have been elected by our class members and we help to make the school better. Our teachers are amazing as they always help and encourage us to do our best; we are so grateful for being able to come to this school. Additionally, we enjoy taking on different roles in school and completing different jobs. We meet every week with Mrs Wheatley our Deputy Headteacher to raise any issues and discuss how we can improve further. Our focus this year is to help our teachers raise awareness of our values and work towards becoming ethos ambassadors for our school. We are promoting our values of:

Digital Leaders

We are the Digital Leaders in school. We have a representative from every year group and we meet once a fortnight at lunch times with Mrs McCabe. We follow the Digital Leaders ‘Challenges’ from Purple Mash and are responsible for supporting other children in school to stay safe online and to offer advice and guidance should they need it. We are responsible for checking school’s equipment, ensuring devices are charged, offer homework help and reporting broken or malfunctioning equipment.

Sports/Play Leaders

We work with Mrs Wheatley our PE lead to develop games and encourage participation across playtimes to get everyone active! We take on our roles on a rota basis and wear our hi-vis jackets so that we are easy to spot on the yard. We support with organising and restocking equipment in the playtime sheds to ensure everyone has access to equipment that works.

Peer Mentors

We have undertaken training with the Mental Health Support Team to enable us to work with our peers to support them across playtimes if they need a listening ear or someone to talk to. We have undertaken training linked to conflict resolution and listening to others. We also know when we need to involve an adult. You can spot us on the yard around the buddy stops we will be wearing hi-vis jackets.

Monitors

As we move into year 6 we take on more responsibility in school to support with the smooth running of school on a day to day basis for example ringing the bell, supporting in the lunch hall, supporting in EYFS, listening to younger children read etc. We really enjoy these jobs and take them very seriously.
